Gathering Space

Sunday, June 10th, 2012

I’ve adopted four Alberta cities as I’ve grown up.  This weekend, I went with great friends to the one that has the tendency to do things the biggest and the brightest, to Edmonton.

Still, it’s Edmonton’s food that is most familiar to me; it’s Edmonton’s green river valley that makes me think of Summer; it’s sense of art and of community and of celebrating that inspires me.

The forecast wasn’t perfect but my first foray out of the hotel had me going back up to change my sweater for a t-shirt.  From there, we took in the day, grateful for the sun.  We danced outside, clapped to sentiments (until my hands hurt actually) and caught-up as we saw familiar faces.

We ate, we swam, we explored, and laughed.  We celebrated.

So great to get away and to get back and to get together.  Summer, it seems, is pretty much here!
